Z. Paul Akian is the CEO of Western Filter, Western FluiDyne, Integra Technologies, which designs and manufactures hydraulic filtration systems for commercial and defense aerospace applications.

A mathematics major at Adelphi, Mr. Akian was also a member of Adelphi’s Conference Champion 1963 men’s soccer team, who earned the program its first-ever NCAA tournament berth. In 2009, Mr. Akian and his 1963 teammates were inducted into Adelphi’s Hall of Fame as the first recipient of the newly created Panther Legendary Team award, which recognizes teams whose regional and national success have brought honor and positive recognition to the University.

Mr. Akian, who has served on the President Robert A Scott’s Advisory Group, is a member of the Board of Trustees.

He established The Z. Paul Akian Scholarship Award at Adelphi in 2010, which is given to one male and female student-athlete who successfully balances academics, athletics, and community or campus involvement. The Z. Paul Akian Scholarship Award was first awarded in 2011-2012.
