In 2002 the Nebletts established The Marcus Rayman Neblett Award and have continued to contribute to this initiative through the years.
Our nephew was a lively, engaging young man. We wanted to ensure that his potential was not wasted and would contribute to the academic lives of current students at Adelphi.
Marcus Rayman Neblett ’92
Nearly 10 years after graduating from Adelphi University with his BBA in management, Marcus Rayman Neblett passed away on September 11, 2001, working in the World Trade Center.
Marcus’ uncle and aunt, Winston and Valerie Neblett, decided they wanted to secure their nephew’s legacy at Adelphi. “Marcus always spoke glowingly of his experience at Adelphi,” said his aunt. “He always said he benefited from the education he received at the University.”
In 2002 the Nebletts established The Marcus Rayman Neblett Award and have continued to contribute to this initiative through the years. The Marcus Rayman Neblett Award is presented annually to a business student of African American or Caribbean descent who has compassion and concern for humankind.

“We give to honor Marcus,” said the Nebletts. “Like so many other families and friends of victims of September 11, we experienced emotional stress over our loss. Our nephew was a lively, engaging young man. We wanted to ensure that his potential was not wasted and would contribute to the academic lives of current students at Adelphi.”
